Hey all i've had this pc now for about 5 years and i'm giving it away to my sibling now as it's time for me to upgrade/buy a new pc or better or similar specs.
budget is £1000 max

CPU: intel core i-5-3570k 3.4Ghz (Ivybridge)
CPU Cooler: Cool Master Hyper 612S CPU Cooler
Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 970
Motherboard: MSI Z77 MPower Intel Z77 DDR3 ATX Motherboard
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3
Storage: Samsung 128GB SSD 830 Series, Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB
PSU: be quiet! Pure Power L8 730W CM

The two systems will perform to a similar level in my opinion. The GTX970 and 1060 trade blows fairly equally with the 1060 coming out a little quicker. I'd try and upgrade the CPU to an i5 8400 - hex core and a decent 4ghz turbo speed.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
  • 1 x OcUK Gaming Vision VR Gaming PC - Intel 8th Generation 3.6GHz Quad Core = £1,033.99

    • Memory:*Build Stock* Team Group Vulcan T-Force 8GB (1x8GB) DDR4 PC4-19200C14 2400MHz - Grey
    • Graphics Card:Palit GeForce GTX 1070 Dual 8192MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

    • Case:Phanteks Eclipse P400 Midi Tower Case - Black Window
    • WIFI:Unwanted
Total: £1,048.09 (includes shipping: £14.10)

Call up and ask for 2x 4gb instead of single 8gb stick . Coffee/kaby/skylake all love dual channel mode, not single

Wouldn't exactly be fond of remaining life time chances for that PSU if you've used PC for many hours per day.
Though that Kolink is still worser PSU brand then BeQuiet...

Yes, though that PSU was made before bequiet switched to FSP - have to Google them - made the first modular PSU units

All advice here is appreciated, ofc the bundle i quoted isn't required if something better/optional could be put together separately.

If you didn't want to buy the above system deal and able to self build and source windows 10 .
Cheapest gtx 1070 in stock and Mobo one of most recommended and on sale .

If you push your budget to its limit then that's going to last you much longer. Ideally you want the i5-8400 if you're going to use your PC primarily for gaming and the Ryzen 5 1600 if you're not. If you are gaming then pairing either CPU with a GTX 1070 will mean you have a system capable of great things. :)
