Looking for Wii information

A few years back i switched over to PC gaming, and for the most part, was glad i made the switch. I'd never dream of playing an FPS on a console again - to have to do so without a mouse and keyboard seems stupid nowadays.

Anyway, though i love my PC gaming, i miss the more 'classic' franchises, and while some genre's are great on PC, i really miss some of the other game style's found on the consoles. I was always a nintendo fanboy, but i've been pretty 'out of the loop' as it were recently, but i've seen the Wii is coming out this christmas.

Few questions;

are there any of the big-name games going to be available @, or near release? im thinking zelda/mario etc

what are the reviews like? as i say, i've been totally out of touch with consoles for a while. How are opinions on the Wii and the software coming with it?

Availability? Could i expect to be able to get one before christmas or are they sold out even pre-release?

There are some big titles on the Wii, some in the future, some at launch.

There's the new Super Mario Galaxy game coming out early next year. The Zelda game is available at launch, which is getting very very good reviews currently.

Availability wise, I'm not too sure at the moment. Most preorders have sold out online I think, but I think we'll see a few availabile in the shops if they keep stocking them weekly.

You 'should' be able to get one before christmas, I've read there's another batch of deliveries after the release date. I think some of th e less likely stores are still guaranteeing pre-orders.

1) Head over to IGN or another similar, good gaming site. Zelda is the launch game (10/10, 99/100 etc from some sites). Other games have been a disappointment, but there's plenty of 8's knocking about. More games to come steadily over a 6 month period.

2) I would try non-gaming shops personally; places people wouldn't necessary think to go to for their games. Online - no chance I don't think. A midnight trip on launch might yield a Wii before Xmas.

3) Hopefully, building on comments made about the disappointing Red Steel and occasionally frustrating CoD3, there's a lot of potential with the Wiimote for FPS games. Certainly, it's been mentioned that in Zelda, aiming with the bow is much more accurate with the Wiimote. They just need to perfect FPS control systems and I think Wii will become the home of the FPS.
