Good Morning! Im looking into investing into a Card that will fit this well

the card will quite literally be used on the COD series, mostly BO and i know the right thing to do is to not buy a card for a specific game but i quite honestly look to put in some serious hours into this game. So a few options i have considered would be the ATI 5870 that i have seen for cheap on OC at the moment, or possibly the GTX 460 MSI cyclone 1GB, I'd like somebody to put this to bed :). (No homo :D) P.S Can you check if my motherboard will fit it before posting,
Thanks a bunch.
Max

Another thing worth considering is whether or not the 5870 will fit in your case. I was tempted to get one but apparently they won't fit in a Storm Scout without cutting the HDD cage.

I am trying to decide if I should sensible and get a 460 for £150 or spend the money I would have used for a new cpu cooler and get a 470 for £185.

+1 for dcsarge, i would recommend xfx 5870 because its the branded and runs Very quiet. the HD 6870 runs slower according to many benchmarking websites and it's new so exspect driver bugs.

anyway, mine just fit in my case. one thing is to measure the card length but don't forget about the cables also need to fit on the end of the card.

What CPU you got by the way? Black OPs is a huge CPU hog and really benefity from the extra numbers of cores (not counting 5th and 6th core), so ideally you should have a decent speed Quad-core CPU. Even a fast dual-core such as a stock speed i3 540 would bring graphic card's performance down to 4850's level on 1920x1200 4xAA, 16xAF.

I have the AMD Athlon II X4 Quad Core 640 3.00GHz, not yet OC'ed, Pretty much a choice between the MSI GTX 460 Cyclone 1GB, the "SHOW STOPPER :D" AT 5870, Or the Asus GTX 460.

The other option, is to wait until next week to see how the prices are affected with the release of ATI's HD 6950 and 6970. You could find yourself saving quite a bit if a lot of the other cards have price reductions.

I don't expect mid-range prices to shift massively because of the 69xx cards.

I haven't bought a 5870/470/460 yet because it is my xmas present from my family and I am just waiting to see what turns up on offer in the next week, although I may miss the KFA2 470 if I wait too long.

I would be very surprised if they dropped that low, considering their performance relative to what else is on the market. However, if it does happen I would be happy to give one a home :).

Liquiduk - I'm not an expert but I wouldn't have thought it would have any problems. If you could OC your CPU it would help performance overall.

The thing to look for mostly (which I am hoping for and doing myself) is further reduction on the ATI 5870 and ATI 6870. I've already seen £10 reductions in some places this week with the ATI 6870, so it's possible we could see more of this next week.

5870's have gone up £7

*Bump*, Right well budget has dropped from 100-130, There 5850 for £107 looks like a very good deal at the moment, But I need to know if it would be worth stretching an extra £10 for a 1GB GTX 460, or stick with the good deal 5850, Thanks
