Hi guys

I'm looking to build a gaming pc after years of gaming on consoles after using my cousins rig the other day, I'm not looking to build a overly complicated rig i want to build one with a solid foundation that will allow me to upgrade as when I need to once I get used to gaming on a pc I have about £500 to use.

Any suggestions for the build would be appreciated

Many thanks
Big Mike

This has a solid motherboard and will hold the next 2 releases of Ryzen - so about as future proof as you can get. You could add another 8Gb when you're more flush and ideally an SSD when you can afford it.

The 1050Ti will do a admirable job at 1080p - but when prices drop (GPU prices are nuts at the moment) again you could drop in a better GPU.

Case is cheap - but it's just a case and will do the job. You have a solid foundation - and all could be upgraded or added to in the future:

similar to @Plec 's 2nd system, but using a cheaper mobo, in return, getting faster ram (for the same price) and a sshd (rather than a bog standard hdd)
i would've specced a 275gb ssd, but that would bring the price up to £580, unfortunately.
changed the case - but much the same, i personally prefer @Plec 's case, but on a budget the aviator m is unmatched as it has already 3 fans included, whereas most budget cases only have 1.

could drop down to a 500gb sshd and bring the price down to £540 if required

ps: i wouldn't get the bitfenix nova case in any build. its thermal performance is utter tripe

@tamzzy, nice spot with the memory - hadn't spotted the 3200 8Gb kits.

@Big Mike - the SSHD is a nice compromise as we've both mentioned ideally you would have an SSD (not an option with £500 budget) and the 3200MHz is a no brainier at the same price. If you could stretch - mixing the 2 builds would be a nice compromise - the quality of Gigabyte Motherboard/card and the SSHD. Especially as you mention it's a foundation on which to build on...

agreed :)

£607 nets you a nice mid-range system with a 275gb ssd. getting a hdd or an external hdd for additional storarge down the line is simple :)
