Hi guys.

I'm a current commercial pilot and I'm contemplating building a high-end VR Flight sim setup.

This will be running MS Flightsim 2020 and DCS World. I'd like to run it with an HTC Vive Cosmos VR headset and I may well be recording flights for a Youtube channel.

Could you cast your eyes over this list... Where is complete overkill, and is it all compatible please? Anything i've missed? I used to build PCs heavily a few years back but been Macs for ages and just getting back into PC building so I am a bit rusty and would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Hi.

I dont think the 3080 will fit in that case with a front mounted rad you shoulg gor something blike the FRACTAL DESIGN MESHIFY S2 which is a bit bigger.

Overclocked bundles is very high end but tend to be expensive and the 10900k fully loaded can draw slot of power.

Psu at 750w is borderline with the bundle i would be looking at 850w minimum.

Then there is Amd 5000 serios cpu but avalibilty is an issuie.

I gather the Z490 motherboards were supposed to be PCIe-4 compliant but appear to lack the necessary slot for the cards.

Would switching to an AMD processor and motherboard be a big problem in terms of peformance?

Hotas is good though.

I have the same.
I am looking at grabbing pedals though. So I can lock off the twist in the stick.

That would mean switching to AMD as Intel is currently stuck on PCIE 3.0.

I know.

Correct, I gather in a few weeks, the Z590 will be announced which does support PCIE4, however the issue with AMD is no stock, likely Intel will be the same. With the 5000 series AMD aren’t going to notice any performance loss, so don’t let that worry you.

Just be cautious is all I’m saying, if you buy Intel now you’re seriously restricting yourself and the PC. You want something that can support the new full speeds of the new gen4 graphics cards and more importantly, storage.
