Hi all,

I am looking to build a small form factor server, its probably going to be used for virtualisation (VMWare ESXi) I have recently got rid of my old HP Microserver NL36 so want to build a custom rig to replace it.

Thing's I want out of this is, as cheap as possible, energy efficient CPU which gives me good performance, not sure if I should pick up the highest end dual or tri core or go quad core.

I want to have some play in terms of amount of RAM I can use, the higher the better. Also I am quite new to the cases, but a cheapish decent case will suffice, I am not looking for anything bling but then again I dont want it to look like a pile of rubbish :p

I will be looking round but would like some recommendations on CPU and Motherboard mainly that will give me what I want without breaking the bank

Thanks all :)
