if you got a 6300, you might be able to run with a scythe ninja passively, therefore cutting off all the sound

The Ninja is so quite I don't see the problem running at 900rpm! You have to be within 1' to hear the fan, and that's in the open.

cheers for that, i think ive made my mind up i'll order now. maybe have look for the scythe ninja. Thanks again..

How quiet do you really want it? Ultra quiet to me would mean that a 900rpm fan is a definite no. Its not before you get below 550rpm with a nexus fan that you are into the ultra quiet range in my opinion ... but then noise is a very subjective thing.

I can concur that the scythe ninja is the best passive heatsink available however, but hat hasn't been mentioned so far is the hard drive. In a quiet system this can be easily the most audible / annoying component so if you are serious about a really quiet computer it's somehting worth looking into.

As off the shelf 3.5" hard drives go - the samsung spin point 160gb and 250gb are generally considered the quietest, but properly damping the vibrations by suspending them or using foam makes a massive difference. If you are looking to go even quieter than that however - laptop drives are woth considering.
