Hi, to all this is my 1st post sorry if is in the wrong place, my big question is related to HDMI, why because i only want build the box and conect to a lcd 32 in toshiba. HDMI can carry video and audio but this make me confused. Graphics card is only for video right/wrong! will the connection be easy to make [pc to tv] or i have to buy a monitor for the settings?

My build:

Motherboad - MSI 770-C45
CPU - Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition or maybe [Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition]
Graphics - HD 4770, HD 4850 or GTS 250 ???
Memory - 4gb 1333mhz cl9 ddr3 - this is if i go for 64bit OS
Psu - Corsair CX400W PSU
Case - £££ - Zalman Z7 ATX mid tower
Cooler - Akasa ak-876
Hard Drive - 1tb
Optical - £££ Blu-ray
Any help will be appreciated many thanks.

Most new ATI graphics cards have the ability to carry audio over HDMI.
I use ATI 46xx range card for my HTPC and connect to my TV.

If you use Nvidia you will need to check, as some models you have to use the S/P DIF, my old 7600 gt needed this.

Thanks for the quik reply, I'm not a gamer but i encoding a lot the build is £400 to £450 with DVD drive so for Blu-ray maybe £100 more, so suggestions for the build is appreciated, no preferences and i can compromise, thanks

One of the new 800 motherboards from AMD should do the trick if your not a gamer, the onboard HDMI should more than suffice.

This, oh and if you are encoding a lot (and not gaming) I'd go for a quad core, should see some benefits in that.
The new cards can all do sound HDMI over the HDMI cable, don't worry about it :) Maybe not on some older NVIDIA models but I'm not sure about this...

Graphics for that price i'd say a 5750. I'd knock the motherboard up to a G45, or an Asrock M3A770DE. But if you're not gaming at all i'd recommend a 5570/4670 and an Athlon II X4.

+1

Also if the encoding programmes use CUDA it might be worth buying an Nvidia graphics card. Of course I would also check if ATI Stream is supported too.

Thanks again to all for the reply, but my question still is necessery to buy a monitor for HDMI setup connections "or is like connecting a 21pin cable from dvd to tv" sorry if i no make any sence with my question.
