looking to build myself a low power tube amp/pre amp

and would appreciate any first hand experience

basically my amp atm is fine, but thats all it is, fine, i want something with a better tone just to practice with, and record some bits and bobs, even if it has an all tube preamp into a solid state power amp, or no power amp at all and just run it through some sort of stereo amplifier

my main question is power supply - am i best scrounging 1 of a real amplifier?


kustom have a amp called the 12a with 1 ax7 tube in the preamp for around 80 quid, would this be a better bet - i certainly wouldnt mind it saving me the hassle of bulding my own, but i fear just 1 tube wont be enough

Epiphone do a 10w thing thats supposed to be really good.

Ever thought of something like a marshall valvestate?

yeah - ive seen a few cheap marshall valvestates on bay, but they will hardly EVER post, and when i find 1 that will, i dont have the money lo
