Hi everyone,

My 16 year-old is looking to build his first “proper” gaming PC. I have some parts that I will be donating to the cause.

I’m hoping some people may be able to offer opinions on the parts we don’t already have. We have a budget of around £800ish for the remaining parts. I’m not keen on going for low-end budget parts and would prefer to go for more the mid-range price level if possible.

The parts I will be donating are:

NZXT H510 Case

Corsair 3200Mhz Dominator Platinum 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) CMD32GX4M2C3200C16

Noctua NF-A14 fans x3

2560x1440p 60hz Dell monitor

Windows 10 Pro licence

Various spinning HDDs

The parts I am looking for recommendations on are:

750W Gold PSU - I have always had over-specced wattage PSUs as I prefer to not have my PSU running flat-out at its near limit all the time – don’t know if this really matters but is my preference. Had been looking at a Corsair TX750M as don't mind semi-modular considering those cables have to be plugged in anyway.

AMD 5600X CPU – Is the stock cooler good enough or is something like a Hyper 212 Black Edition worthwhile?

B550 ATX Motherboard - don't need wifi as will be using Ethernet

GPU RTX 3060 / 3060TI / 3070 – depending on availability and how good his predicted grades are

NVMe SSD 1TB

Thank you very much indeed.

You seem to have most things covered.

Motherboard msi b550 gaming plus or tomahawk are good options.

M2 1tb western digital sn 550 £96.

Psu corsair tx or rm.

16gb 3200mhz or 3600mhz ram.

Stock coolers are adequate but noisy arctic freezer e34 sports is a good choice.

Hi,

Thank you for the reply.

Do you know if the corsair RAM I listed above will work with the MSI motherboards? I have tried to find a MSI RAM QVL list but haven't been very successful.

Thanks again,

Moley

I wouldnt worry about the memory not being on the qvl list, they dont test everyone. It should work.
