Hi there, am new to the forums :D

I've been looking to buy a new PC (primarily for Gaming and streaming) for a while now and am finally looking to bite the bullet and go for it.

I'll detail out what I want/expectations as to give a bit more info

a) I'm wanting to game at 2560 x 1440 (When not streaming) - and 1920 x 1080 (Whilst streaming) - I have a 1080p Samsung monitor/tv atm (its 4 years old... 60hz ucckyness) which is ok but am going to get a monitor that supports 1440p for when I'm playing on me own/ co-oping with the missus.

b) Something that'll support high end/Top end settings in games until at least end 2015/mid 2016 - so a 2.5 year life span at least.

c) I've been considering building a system around the 4770k (for overclocking headroom) Intel processor and a 780ti (which will be the majority of the price)

d) Price limititations - maximum spend 1.5k - w/o monitor

Is this enough money?

Storage - I've already got a 480Gb SSd from OCZ (Which I'll save live streamings/Camtasia to) but looking to get another (smaller one) for just the OS and a HDD for the gaming catalogue.

Can anyone give me build ideas pretty please?

Regards,

FusRoDah

P.S - the sexier looking the better

There is no GPU in there because non-reference 290X's and 780ti's are just around the corner. If you can wait, do. If not, I'll have to spec something in green instead of orange.

The PSU assumes you won't be adding another GPU. If you think you'll go SLI in the future, get something 850w+.

Such detail in including info and pictures - thank you.

Do you mind if I fire some questions off to you? - to diffuse some myths that friends have been chucking at me.

A few are under the impression that 16/32gb Ram is a minimum for future proofing myself for a few years - yet every build I read goes 8Gb (dual channel) w/2.4k ghz ram or 16 (quad channel)@2133/2400.

One or two have mentioned that even a 780ti doesn't perform well in 2560x1440p and to fully reach potential I'd have to SLI - Am I better aiming towards a bigger (and higher refresh rate) 1080p system?

Am liking the Orange &&! - I'll be looking to invest in PC late January so I've got a bit of time just yet.

Last one for now.. I may be a grizzled pro gamer but I've always had to get by with pre built systems - am I going to struggle going full custom - Is a pre-built from OCUK a better path?

Man do I type a lot... sorry!

Merry Christmas to you all =)

Thanks for the suggestions above all - very much appreciated along with the advice.
I think I've just about made my decision - and it's to wimp out and not custom build:/ I don't have the experience or the dexterity to do it justice.

My monitor is to be purchased tomorrow - a Qnix 27inch 1440p monitor (oc'able to 120hz) - a tidy price too but not from here so I'll not link it.

As for the machine I've almost made my mind up :

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-364-OE - The 450i Sabre - couple of things changed in the build mind - a 780ti ofcourse - 2tb drive and the phantom enthusiast case in red+white.

The processor is a 4770k clocked at 4.3 - healthy OC but not ott.

Or am I better off going for the http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-428-OE&groupid=43&catid=2475&subcat=2489 - the case looks more diminutive than the phantom though - more clustered.

With these system builds - If asked for a few more changes before purchase - are these possible? Wouldn't mind a slightly higher wattage cpu & 16gb of Ram + a bit of LCD colouring inside.

Confused.com!! lol

Monitor shipped :D

I've changed my mind again, still gonna get OCUK to build - but customising a build:

NZXT Phantom 820 Enthusiast Ultra Tower Case - White
Stage 2 Intel: Overclock of CPU - 4.3GHz Overclock - Haswell K Edition Processors Only
Intel Core i7-4770K 3.50GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail
Akasa AK-CC4008HP01 Venom Voodoo CPU Cooler
Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H Intel Z87 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard
TeamGroup Vulcan GOLD 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-17100C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLYD316G2133HC11ADC01)
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 WindForce 3x OC Rev2.0 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (GV-N780OC-3GD) - This will be a 780ti but it's out of stock at the sec.
Samsung 128GB SSD 840 PRO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7PD128BW)
Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST2000DM001) HDD
Pioneer BDC-207DBK 8x BluRay ROM / DVDRW SATA-II Optical Drive - Black (OEM)
Be Quiet Power Zone 850W '80 Plus Bronze' Fully Modular Power Supply

Almost there... me thinks.

I like the custom lighting and room in the 820 =)

Have moved the configurator to include the Corsair power supply
- The alpenfohn Mount doom isn't available to select - would be one of those phone to change things?

I still have a while before I order - need to get one or 2 more things & the gfx chip is out too.

PS. Is there an option to save my current config on the ocuk site?

Ty for your reply lee.

EDIT: Just seen your updated post - Sexeh! - does the switch 810 have the lighting presets also?
