Looking to buy a 22" monitor, need help!

Looking to spend around £150 - 180 on a brand spanking new monitor.

Which monitors look good and play good?

Main use is gaming & surfing.

P.S am i gonna look like this when i recieve it, coming from a 17" CRT

Or then like this when you're wondering has technology gone backwards because upper edge shows as darker and lower edge brighter and those colour shifts change when you lean back and forward in chair.
