So I've had My Rockhopper Pro for going on 8 years now and I'm thinking it's time for a new one I would say, THe thing that's pushed me over the edge today is the fact that the bottom bracket has worn out yet again, yeah it's a cheap fix but theirs no harm in looking for a new one.

So I've been looking on Dales website as I'll be wanting interest free credit, The two bikes that have caught my eye so far are:-

Giant Fathom 29er 1 Mountain Bike 2017
https://www.dalescycles.com/bikes/mountain-bikes/giant-fathom-29er-1-mountain-bike-25119

and the

Cube LTD Race Mountain Bike 2017
https://www.dalescycles.com/bikes/mountain-bikes/cube-ltd-race-mountain-bike-26619

I'm edging more to the cube as it has a full XT groupset

any suggestions are welcome.

£15 for a BB or £1k on a new bike. My kind of logic :D

What will you be using it for? Trail riding, or just tooting about town?

just messing around with, riding around the park and to work and back. I've had good use out of my Rockhopper, it's been rode nearly everyday for 8 years (in January). Yeah I could have bought a cheaper bike and I wouldn't have felt the difference but would it have lasted as long?

I think the giant is better on paper, than the cube (crap forks for a 1k bike) also consider the boardman pro hard tail, similar spec and cheaper.

Sorry for quoting myself, but the boardman has really good forks for the price, and fancy guide R brakes. For me it would be giant or boardman, the cube seems to be asking money for the brand name.

Yeah I've looked a racer/road bikes before, I just prefer the Mountain Bikes. I usually do some shopping on my way home from work and like to tie the bags to the handle bars. A racer/road bike wouldn't let me do this with stability I don't think.

Get panniers, bags on the front bars is dangerous.

You want a commuter then not a mtb.
