Looking to buy some Games.

Dead space is currently free through Origin at the mo.

Good shout. Wouldn't have known about that if not for randomly clicking this thread (got Origin installed just so i could try Battlefield 4 beta ages ago). Always nice to get a free game, especially one you wanted to play but never got around to. Thanks

Since I got my gaming rig (with playing BF4, ARMA 2, 3, Crysis, DayZ in mind) it's actually been indie games that have occupied my time mostly. No matter what kind of games you enjoy the following should be good:

Skyrim.
The Binding of Isaac
Torchlight 2
Chivalry
Faster Than Light
Fallout 3 / New Vegas
Bastion
CIV V
Marvel Heroes
Diablo III

There are loads of enjoyable games. Don't forget to check humblebundle every week and visit the PC Daily deals thread for some good prices on some games.

Farcry 3, great game and very cheap.
League of Legends. 67 million people can't be wrong, though they will insult you repeatedly.
Rust is great fun.

If I were you I'd pick up this weeks Humble Bundle, if for nothing other than the excellent Hotline Miami. Natural Selection 2 is pretty fun every now and then.

Agree with theonejat with Bastion and Chivalry.

Very good list, +1.

Would also like to add:

Bioshock 1/2
Amnesia
Borderlands
Dark Souls
Dishonored
Don't Starve
Far Cry 3
Just Cause 2
Metro: 2033 & Last Light
South Park: Stick of Truth
Thomas Was Alone
The Witcher 1 & 2.

Good lists folks I shall be checking all them games out as soon as I get home, like the idea of indie games, another question:

Do you use control pads or retro with mouse and keyboard?

I like using the mouse and keyboard because it gives me the "PC Gamer" feel if you know what I mean, but some people think certain games are better with controllers. Just want to know your opinions on what games suit what.

yeah i would hold out for the humble bundle sales they will probably be posted on here at some point just keep checking the deals thread! also steam sales as they are usually good. theres so many good games to buy. I would just check out some reviews or games you like the look of then find the cheapest price. i tend to stick to the pc exclusives as most of my friends play on consoles
last few games i have picked up:

xcom + dlc
the stanley parable
banished
south park the stick of truth

all of which are great

Some games ARE better with a pad, largely 3rd person games, pads just allow for much smoother gameplay.

Agreed. Skyrim is a perfect example or Dark Souls.

Diablo 3 is stealing my time at the moment and I would thoroughly recommend. So many of the suggestions on here are fantastic. Do some reading and watch some vids and see what takes your fancy. Enjoy

I am jealous. Imagine for a moment just buying your first PC....You suddenly find that not only are their some great AAA titles but a whole indie scene just waiting to be found. Not only that but almost the whole back catalog of games are compatible. With better graphics than the consoles. Who's next gen now!

Hi All I've finally purchased my first ever Gaming PC, with me being 21 that's kind of depressing, and I was just wondering about some games to buy. I have currently got Final Fantasy XIV, Football Manager 2014 and Bioshock Inifinite but I am looking to expand this list even further. I am looking for any Action/Adventure Games, Strategy Games, MMO's and RPG's or any other decent games that anyone could recommend.

I know there is already a thread exactly like this but I have a couple of questions in with mine:

1: I've looked into purchasing Elder Scrolls Online, I already had it pre-ordered for Xbox but it seems like more of a PC thing to me, but I have had a lot of mixed reviews. Do you all believe its worth the money?

2: Are there any decent pre-orders coming up aswell?

Thanks.

My first rule when it comes to purchasing games is don't pre order unreleased games. Look at the X Rebirth, Rome 2 (worth playing now it's been patched up), Aliens Colonial Marines and Battlefield 4 threads for dozens of people who have got stung but buggy, unplayable games.

I've played a few games in the last few years and I would recommend the following:

Mass Effect series
The Witcher 2 (should play butter smooth with on your system specs)
Civilization 5 expansions
Shogun2 The Last of the Samurai Total War
Far Cry Blood Dragon (one of the coolest retro style games I've ever played, watching the intro and playing it for the first time was like being injected with the needle of nostalgia)
Call of Juarez Gunslinger (western style FPS, good story telling and a fun game)
Even if you have played this before on a console, Skyrim on the PC is well worth a getting back into for the mods alone, some of us have a couple of dozen mods going at once, for better graphics, more loot to find, better NPC's, better effects etc, etc.

Personally I'm looking forward to Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen, I wouldn't pre order (although Elite looks really good from the limited Alpha releases videos that have been posted) but well worth keeping an eye on.

Dark souls - Dark souls 2 is coming out soon, is a great game which once you learn the mechanics and understand that you are going to die over and over it is fun. Also its feels amazing when you kill a boss without dying.
Guild wars 2 - good MMO without a subscription, good graphics and interesting leveling areas
WOW - you can't pc game without having atleast played world of warcraft. if you play the trial version you can get up to mist of pandaria for about £11 then its only £9 a month which isnt too bad.
Diablo 3 - very fun dungeon crawler, haven't played past the tutorial (because it costs 35 quid) but it is a very fun game with amazing graphics
Skyrim - its skyrim, a must play
World of Tanks - if you want to drive around in ww1, ww2 and cold war era tanks it is good fun, however it basically requires you to pay for premium time (additional 50% xp and money per match) also there is a OCUK clan which has teamspeak
Dishonored - a steampunk assassin game with an great story, great graphics and replayability.
Dota 2/League of Legends - these are MOBAs i don't think you will have come across them on the xbox, i can't really explain what they are go to youtube and watch a lets play or what is dota/league
