I am just wondering my best set-up, to put a PC through a TV in the lounge next to consoles and double up as my media center PC or to have it at a PC desk with chair, I could go multiple monitors then instead but it would probably double up as my work PC for programming and normal computer stuff. Any advice?

Do both. That's what I just did. Main PC for "proper" shooters like CSGO, Tribes. Lounge PC connected to TV for casual, console type games like Batman, Assassins creed.

No with a big tv the response time is slower so worce for gaming, if you want to play FPS

Technically true but 18 ms difference between a 2ms gaming monitor and a 20ms TV probably won't be even noticable for most people.

Having a proper PC set up with multiple monitors is a great experience and definitely something worth thinking about. Media PCs tend to not be the best gaming experience.

For non mouse+kb PC games (most console ports nowadays) 60" or larger HDTV all the way ;) I have 2 systems 1 for HDTV gamepad games & 1 for kb+mouse gaming!
