Will this rig cope and how would I go about setting it up for gaming and YouTube/forums etc at same time? Both screens will be 1080p.

Intel Core i5 4690K @ 4.2GHz Overclocked

TeamGroup Elite Black 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

KFA2 GeForce GTX 970 OC Silent "Infin8 Black Edition" 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card/

I currently have a 21" Samsung Syncmaster LD220. I am looking at getting this or something like it, maybe not a ultra wide.

Thoughts?

Easily be able to run more than 1 monitor on that setup.

You just drag and drop the windows to the monitor you want them on and it'll generally remember it's position.

i run a 3840x2160 monitor and a 2560x1440 monitor off one r9 290 6gb of ram with some light gaming on one screen and forums/netflix/youtube on the other.. And my CPU is only an i7 2600 :)

You will have no issue.

Only a 2600? I'd rather have that than a 4690 tbh!

But yeah your rig will be fiiiiine with that. Although I've always wondered this and it may seem stupid but if you're running two monitors and gaming on one of them, what happens when you move to the edge of the screen with your cursor in the game. Does it go onto the next monitor still? Thats seems pretty annoying ha

If you play in windowed (fullscreen) you retain your full resolution but can freely navigate your entire desktop. Audio can go off when you are browsing but as soon as you click back to the game the audio returns. Ive noticed minimal to no FPS or game play loss doing this although some slightly more demanding games can really struggle i.e. Battlefield 4 changes windows aero theme whilst in game

Ok ta, so if Im playing in non-windowed fullscreen and lets say I had a forum open on the other monitor I would have to alt + tab to change to internet explorer then I could navigate that second monitor with the forum open? and alt+ tab again back to the game to use that monitor. There would be no movement of cursor from one screen to another when moving to the edge?

If that makes sense

That is correct, when a game is in full-screen mode it locks the cursor to the active window only. you would have to alt+tab out, also bare in mind that if your primary monitor isn't playing a game in its desktop resolution i.e. you have 2 monitors one 2560x1440 and one 1920x1080 if you are playing a game on the 1440p display you need to have it in that resolution to see the entirety of the second screen not being used for the game. when it loads it will cut half the screen off. It can be a bit of a pain especially if your gaming screen is 4k
