yep, i've hit that age where nostalgia is kicking in and i can afford to buy into it :D

Bad idea or not? ive got no records myself but my now deceased parents do or did own a substantial record collection that includes the likes of all the Beatles albums and most of the top LP's through the decades of the ones to own so i'd like to put them back into service. And add to that with my own over time.

i guess my question is, is it really worth it?! as much as i do enjoy listening to music im no longer one to stick an album on and listen through it, usually settling on a playlist of multiple artist such as that spotify/youtube now affords us these days. But that scratchy, subtle sound stage of an LP looms.

I think vinyl is good in the sense that you tend to be 'forced' to dedicate yourself to listening to an album properly, rather than todays 'favourites' playlists and ease of skipping tracks, as you say you already have a good collection of albums on vinyl as a starting point then I think it's definitely worth delving into, it's really not that expensive if you already have an amp and speakers, plenty of good starter decks around.

Thanks, yeah thats my thoughts, your more likely to listen to the album in full vs chop and change all the time, theirs something quite luring to just putting on Dark side of the moon (as an example) and just experiencing it.

Any suggestions on a decent turntable?

nice one, that looks just the ticket, lost me on the whole magnetic phone-stage :) but guessing my headphone amp that does accept phono input will be more than enough for my needs!

thanks for the reply's, sorry its been a few days, theirs some good points and i think im gonna sit on this for a while, its purely nostalgia driven so for the sake of my wallet i'm gonna avoid jumping into spending to much on this at the moment! I might just pickup a cheapo player and take it from there.

Still not got any further with this! other hobby's have taken priority, tbh cd's dont really appeal to me though im sure the quality will be much better but that wasn't my goal in this instance. :) give it another 10 years and i might dig the ol collection out of the loft!
