We are looking to install linux within my work place on various outdated computers.

400mhz and 64mb ram machines

I'm wanting to try and show that linux can take systems of these standards, and bring them back to life.

The machines won't be used for more than web browsing and Word Processing.

A GUI that looks similar to MAC OS Would be a nice change.

Here is the problem area now. We have already got in place a Windows network, It's primarily made up of Windows XP Professional clients, Running on a Windows Server 2003 server.

The Linux OS would need to be compatible with a Windows Domain.

And with regards to word processing, I guess open office is the best bet?

Thanks for any help.

As you may be able to tell, I've never touched Linux in my life

We have a winner, Puppy linux.

Looks great, comes with Abiword which is compatible with Word.

Now to see if I can get the baby Networked properly.

As for upgrading the RAM, I may still do that.
