hi there,
I have an old server that I am looking to turn into a NAS.
Being able to access it over my sub network should be fine however I live in a flat the whole building uses the same ISP with Ethernet ports in every flat. I would like to be able to connect to this storage over the internet but will not be able to port forward the NAS.

The only way I can think of doing this is buy using a VPN and putting all of the traffic through that when I am away from home.

Is there any other way?

Thanks,
Sam

I tried installing owncloud on my server but I was having issues uploading files larger than photos. I think it might be something to do with my Apache configuration and seeing as it is running cpannel and hosting some poeples sites I didn't want to mess with it too much.

Instead of messing around with that I have instead decided to use a piece of software called bittorrent sync, which is a peer to peer version of owncloud.
I haven't installed it on my server yet but plan to when I next get to it.

Thanks for your suggestion :)
