So I've had this Logitech G105 for 3 years now and to be honest after seeing prices come down, and seeing the awesome backlight options i want to move to a mechanical. I'm looking for something which is a compromise between good typing accuracy and good gaming performance(light key press). So, could anyone recommend a good mechanical Keyboard to transition from my rubber dome G105 to a mechanical with a similar pressing force? At first i thought MX browns but then i was alos thinking blacks but they dont seem as popular?

thanks allot. any help is appreciated.

i like blacks but they are a heavier press than brown and have no tactile click (which some like)

browns are supposed to be the best for gaming/typing.

as for the boards i can vouch personally for Coolermaster boards but also Ducky's get really good reviews and they have a rep here too.

Allright thanks do you know how strong browns or blacks are compared to rubber domes? thanks

from reading it would appear rubber dome is somewhere between 50-70g

browns are 45g and blacks are 60g

the difference being that with rubber dome you need to fully press the key (bottom out) where as on a mechanical keyboard there is an activation point. i prefer the keys which require more force.

I don't find my MKB any better than my previous membrane board.

It's just a noise-maker when it bottoms out. Reds BTW.

I moved from a 10 year old Dell keyboard to a Ducky Shine 3 YOTS. Granted, you might not be able to find the YOTS now, but the DS3 have many LED options.

Generally, people follow this pattern:
Blues = Typing
Red = Gaming
Blacks = More Gaming
Browns = Typing and Gaming.

But, ive been using reds and am loving it for typing and gaming. So id say its all about your preferences.
Id try out the switches before hand, maybe even buy the 4 switches to try them out. Thats what i did.

Needless to say, id recommend you stay away from the blacks. They were way too heavy for my taste.
