I have an Audigy 2 ZS which sometimes works great and often gives me problems. I've tried all the official creative drivers over the last three years or so but this card can be problematic with sound drop outs in games (my primary reason for a sound card) and the occasional bsod.

So I want to upgrade to a new soundcard but don't know which one. My budget can stretch to around 50 quid, and I'm using windows xp. I really want to order today (want to take advantage of ocuk's sat delivery offer today) if I can, and wondered what you would recommend. Like I say, I want something with a proven track record on xp for gaming, something that doesn't seem to have all the issues of the Audigy 2 ZS. Many thanks for your suggestions.

[edit] ok, going with the Asus Xonar DX, seems popular and I like the low profile design of it, goodbye creative

thanks dobbs, it's gonna be a relief to replace that ZS, a low profile card is an added bonus and the fact that I can plug it into a pci-e slot is good news too as my PCI ZS pushes against the IDE socket on my P5k wifi
