After some advice, currently running an X800pro which has served me well since its release. I dont want to upgrade to pci-e so want to stick to AGP, I was think of a HD3850 or 3450 ATI card.
Running an AM2 3800+ dual core cpu (not exactly sure which) and 4gig ram.
One of the reasons i want to change is the x800pro shader model version and a lot of games dont work. Also running XP pro.
Obviously the 3450 is some what attractive because of the price but i would like to see some improvement in frame rates, just not sure what to expect.

some very cheap x1950 pros out there at the moment, great card ofr xp pro
3000+ series more about im0plmenting DX10 and vista, skip to the 4000 series if you can

Budget?

Cheers for info on 3450 your right it is not very good :)

Budget is less than £100 and must be agp so that rules out 4000 series i think.

Since you already have a dual core processor and 4gig RAM then I'd say get the 3850pro AGP. You have the system that card is made for.

I was slowly coming to the same conclusion, think I just needed my arm twisting in the right direction.

Thanks Guys :D

Personally I would get a new motherboard (£40-50) and a 4830 (£99), which is going to be quicker than a 3850 and not much more.

got an x1950pro agp with athlon [email protected], ati+agp = headache. either way if you need an agp card, 3850 is you best bet, i dont its gonna be limited by the cpu, if you slap on a tiny bit of AA the 38 series runs real slow.

This. What with you already being on AM2 you may as well move to a PCIe board. :)

got a 3850 AGP, took 10 mins to swap cards (including dropping pc on floor) then removed old software, installed new and jobs a good un.

I appreciate what people say about getting new mobo but I just couldn't bring myself to go through installing the OS again.
