Looking to speed up booting and shutdown

As the title says. My new system is taking a lot longer to boot and shutdown than my old one.

I've done the usual, taking out any services and startup programs that I don't need, but it's still not quick enough for me

I've had a quick google around and all I can find is some guides dating back 5+ years, not sure I want to trust them as things may have changed since then!

could try bootvis, used it a couple of times. Seems to help

a good defrag might be in order too!

Brand spanking new HDD with a fresh XP install ;p
