Looking to upgrade! :D

Current PC:

i5 760 (oc'd to 3.8)
GTX 760 2gb
Gigabyte P55A-UD3
8gb ddr3 ram (unsure on speeds)
Samsung 840 EVO 128 gb SSD
1TB HDD
Corsair 650W PSU

What I think I should be looking to upgrade:

CPU
GPU
Motherboard
RAM
Add another SSD with more space/ditch the HDD
Keep the PSU (?)
Keeping my current case too I suppose

Won't need monitors or peripherals.

Budget: £1000 ish?

PSU is Corsair TX 650w
Case is CiT Dominator
And just 1920x1080.

Does He need a £170 case ?

His current Ram is probably fine to reuse.

A GTX 970 or R9 390 would be better choices if He is only gaming at 1080p. The 980 is overpriced.

The cheapest option would be to just replace the gpu and add a bigger SSD. If you are mainland UK then you should get free shipping. Just make sure the gpu will fit in your case before you buy it.

If performance still isn't up to scratch then you replace the cpu/motherboard for a Skylake etc.

My CPU/motherboard are like 5 years old. I really want a new set. Not entirely happy with them both.

Well in that case, Micky's spec above is pretty much spot on. The Zotac GTX 970 is 280mm long, so just make sure your current case can accommodate it before you buy it.

What cpu cooler do you have ?

That should be fine to reuse. Just make sure you clean off the old paste though, and apply fresh before reusing it
