Hi

I am looking to upgrade my graphics card. I have a Nvidia 7900GTX 521mb card at the monent and am looking at either a 7950GX2 or another 7900GTX to run in SLI mode

I have a LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR MB and just wanted people advices on which route to take..

option 1 - 2nd 7900GTX
option 2 - New 7950 GX2

First a technical question.

Do you have a BIGASS monitor that you need the extra speed, otherwise that card should be running everything well on its own.

If thats a Yes then get a 2nd 7900GTX - you will get better performance than with a single 7950 GX2
.

Just checked my MB and with the 7900 already there I dont think that there would be any room to put another one :(

I am looking to get a new AMDx2 CPU also..
 
I'd definitely go with another 7900GTX - in SLI it trounces the 7950gtx in performance terms and you may be able to pick one up at a reasonble price secondhand.
 
I was in this position and quite frankly the cost of another 7900 GTX put me off after trying two 7900 GTX's in SLI.

I got a GX2 and recouped the cost a bit by selling the 7900 GTX.

I must say I can't fault the GX2 its a fantastic card.

two 7900 GTX's do not really trounce the GX2.I got a few hundred points more in 06 but in games I could not really notice.

GX2 for the win,

Sell your GTX while you can still get good money for it then have the option of playing with quad SLI in the future :)

anyway..

I am a little concerend with what I have been reading about the GX2 which is making me think a little. Also the gap between the 7900 I have an any new would would look very tight and I am not sure if air flow for the 1st card would be a problem

So would my Tagan 480 have enough power for a GX2?
