Starting to suspect a bottle neck in my new system but im unsure what it is I suspect graphics card . Specs are as follows
I7 4820K (2011) Oc to 4.3
RAMPAGE IV BALCK Edition
******** moduler 750watt psu
Seagate hybrid 2T drive
R9 280X
16Gig gskill trident x oc to 2400MHz

Thoughts please !

Hi,

What makes you suspect a bottleneck? Are you having any issues? Any particular games/software?

What resolution are you playing at? :)

from that list I can't see an obvious bottleneck.

(Apart from the PSU)

At the moment im bench marking and score chasing th rest of my hardware shrugs of the tests with ease but graphical tests and fps drop rapidly even minecraft Ftb and dirt 3 drop to 26fps im running a single card.
Would you say 750watt is too low ? gonna upgrade that when I start duplicating cards .

Have you monitored your GPU usage during these benchmarks/tests atall?

Is it hitting 100% or not?

Your PSU isn't too lowly rated but it may not be providing the GPU with the power it needs, what make and model is it?

you'll need to check the gpu usage in the games you play.
if its on 100% most of the time then thats your bottleneck
also what res are you gaming at?

I'd check you have latest drivers, and also look on the appropriate AMD forums to make sure there aren't any driver issues for the version you are using.

As other have mentioned though, best way to find bottleneck is to use apps to monitor GPU and CPU usagae % etc to find out which is maxing out when you are having issues.

It stars out the make haha its Nova lalalala Tech during bench marks gpu is maxed out and fans kicking in overdrive gpu temps are double the rest of my system while benchmarking
Im running hd 1080

Its not always 24 it prob averages 60 drivers are up to date . Playing on a 50inch Samsung tv atm no monitor . Its a fresh build so no conflicting drivers and its got a clean hdd . Runs watchdogs on ultra seemingly ok no idea on the fps for that.
Just struggling optimising ftb monster

Also check your airflow and cooling. If you're getting sub standard performance from your graphics card it could well be thermal throttling? i.e. reaching its maximum safe temperature and reducing it's clock speed to maintain safe temperatures.

Check case airflow, have you got enough fans pushing air in the best direction, make sure nothings blocking airflow into the card, tidy up internal cabling etc.

Untidy cabling and badly positioned/ not enough case fans can have a massive effect on GPU temperatures.

Also, cheap PSU is a really bad idea...... If it goes pop it could take out the whole of your system. Stability wise it also has a massive effect...

Yeah I think it'll be the PSU.

How much do you have to spend?

If you are going to be looking at SLI soon, the Leadex 850W PSU is a great buy. :)
