Looking To Upgrade Need Advice?

Hi guys im looking to upgrade and need some advise on the following selection ive made so far.

AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 2.4GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail (CP-165-AM).

Asus M2N32-SLi-DLX nForce 590 SLi (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-142-AS).

Is this a good choice as im now stuck for what memory to use with this setup im looking for a single 1GB strip for the time being but good quality and reliable and compatable for dual channel. I'm not a overclocker i just want the best hardware for a reliable and stress free setup.

Have you thought about going dual core? or is that too expensive??

If not going SLI then get this mobo:

• Asus M2N-E (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-147-AS) £82.19 incl. VAT

Single 1GB strip? Impossible to find nor recommend especially with the benefits of Dual-Channel. Recommend aiming for 2GB, PC2-6400 a.k.a. DDR2 800MHz

Um don't see the benefit of me having dual core really, i am a games player and thought about that setup i just want a reliable and stable system. Is the setup above good enough also the memory mentioned also above im not an overclocker i just want decent stable memory for this motherboard if so 2x1GB strips if this is the case.

Recommendations are welcome.
