Current build:

Case
Cooler Master HAF X Gaming Tower Case

Mobo
Gigabyte 990XA-UD3 AMD 990X (~5 years old)

PSU
BeQuiet 650W IIRC

Processor
Phenom II X6 (~5 years old)

Ram
8gb DDR 3 (~5 years old)

HDD
256gb primary SSD (~2 months old)

GPU
MSI Radeon R9 280X (~6 months old)

Current problem is either the PSU is failing, or is not strong enough. Since installing 280x, computer randomly freezes. Only stops this behaviour if I under-clock the 280x.

What I'd like to buy is:

- New Mobo
- New CPU + Cooler
- New RAM if necessary (probably is)
- New PSU
- If GPU becomes bottleneck, willing to buy new (can sell 280x to friend)

Important to me is quietness as well, quiet CPU cooler, PSU's etc willing to pay more.

Budget up to £1k, looking for something future proof (another 5 years hopefully!) that will play current 4k games at >= 100fps if that's possible! (Looking to buy a 4k monitor in the near future).

Can anyone suggest what I should be looking for?

Could wait until the middle of 2016 and get a AMD Zen cpu and couple that with a Nvidia Pascal card, pick up a better PSU to tide you over til then.
Unless you put in more than one graphics card nothing current can do 4K at >= 100fps.
