Hello one n all

Im looking to upgrade my aging 9900k so a 13700k, does this cpu work with ddr4? Can I keep my 32gb 3600mhz to keep costs down? Anyone have any suggestions for a gd motherboard n heatsink to accompany this cpu, thank you so much

Ahhh thats a little dissapointing..... this means ill have to buy a ddr5 board, but is there much performance difference between the two now or will be in the future?

Thankyou all for the info

Edit: Also do you know if buying a z790 board over a 690 is worth it?

could always flog ur ram to fund ddr5 when doing the cpu and mb upgrade. Tho from all i hear ddr5 still not worth the move yet unless u get the very expensive ones, probs just worth keeping the ddr4 and get the ddr4 mb.

Not much, since you already have 32GB DDR4 then I'd keep it. It'll likely last the length of the build (depending on how often you upgrade) then you can dump it and DDR5 will be cheaper than DDR4 by then and in bigger capacities. If you rarely upgrade and/or like buying high-end boards, then best to sell it on and get DDR5, the prices aren't bad now.

Hi guys im back, can someone be kind enough to tell me if these all fit and work together?

Samsung 980 Pro 1TB M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD

Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB (2x16GB) 5600MHz DDR5 RAM

Intel Core i7-13700K 13th Gen Desktop Processor

ASUS Prime Z790-P Intel LGA 1700 ATX Motherboard

Anyone know of a gd and reasonably priced heatsink for the cpu plz?

Thankyou!!

Yes that's the one, it supports Socket 1700 and can handle 120-265W TDP according to Thermalright. The i7-13700K runs at base TDP 125W and max TDP of 253W. Toms Hardware tested this cooler on a 12900K and it coped well up to a 200W boost power limit. If you're keeping the CPU at stock or power limits up to 200W it should cope fine. <removed link to review>. One thing to note, this is a large, heavy cooler so make sure your case and RAM will have enough clearance. It needs 155mm case clearance (height of the cooler) and while Thermalright don't publish the RAM height it supports, it should cope with your Corsair Vengeance RGB RAM which apparerently are 45mm high. Note that if you really want to see the RGB lights on both your RAM modules, you will likely find that the front cooling fan will obscure the RGB on the closest RAM module, and you will likely need to move the front fan up a few cooler fins to sit above the RAM modules. If you really care about your RBG you might want to consider an AIO cooler, which will be more expensive and have other fit/clearance requirements for your PC case.

I removed the link. I checked the forum rules and it seems to be a very strict interpretation - but I'm happy to be educated/stand corrected as I want to stay a member here. Despite my low post count I have been a member here for 10 years (pretty sure I've posted more than 14 times in the past 10 years - was there a post count reset at some point?). TH are a hardware review site, not an e-tailer. Is it the case that you're not allowed to post a link to a review on a review site, if that review contains links to an e-tailer where the product can be purchased? I'd be happy to buy Thermalright products from OcUK if they stocked them, but they don't. I've seen other members post links to reviews where OcUK don't stock the product and I've not seen the mods step in. We're all consumers trying to educate ourselves and buy the best hardware that suits our purposes.
