Hi,

I'm considering upgrading my Edifier R1600T Studio Plus 2.0 Monitors speakers (https://www.overclockers.co.uk/b-gr...udio-plus-2.0-monitors-32w-rms-bg-000-er.html) and have a budget of £250 which would need to also cover the cost of any cables etc. that are needed to connect to my Asus STX soundcard.

My main uses are games/music, and my music tastes are very eclectic and cover everything from Beethoven to Radiohead to the Chemical Brothers and 2.0 speakers will be what I'm looking for.

Size wise, I would ideally like the speakers to be no wider than 25cm each.

Would anyone have any suggestions for things that I should consider?

Great news! You can afford the VASTLY superior JBL LSR 305's. They're better.

Pick up RCA to 6.3mm TRS cables on the rainforest or similar for like 5-10 squid and you're good to go.

Just a note, the electric cables for those speakers are short. About 1.3 meters. The good news is that they are standard "PC PSU" cables and you can pick up 2 meter replacements for a couple of quid on the rainforest if needed.

These are the best speakers under 300 squids, hands down, bar none, 200% for sure, all agree, all concur, you will not be disappointed.

And remember, NEVER plug speakers into the amplified headphone jack on the STX. You will cause damage. Always use the RCA outs on that card for speakers.

I have the Ruark MR1 MK2's which are Brilliant, But slightly over your Budget at £329. But you could get the older model Ruark MR1's for cheaper. The newer model has optical input and older model doesn't but still sounds very good
