Looking to upgrade

I currently have a Core2Duo E6600 running on a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 motherboard and have had this for about 18 months.

I am looking to upgrade around easter but in 2 minds what to go for.

I use the computer for usual word & excel plus web design, video editing, playing games and the Seti project.

I don't know whether to go for:-

a) Straight upgrade of cpu only to Q6600
b) Wait until Penryn comes out and go for Q9450 plus new mobo

Budget is around £300.

Well I believe that the Q9450 will be around £220 so will that leave enough for a new motherboard?

Should do as I've been looking at P35 based mobos around the £75-80 - mostly Gigabyte and MSI ones although not decided yet.
