Looking to upgrade

looking to upgrade from AMD to intel, wanting to get a nce Asus mobo, and an E8500 chip, and clock it abit, is this board ok, if not, any others?

It's a great board, but probably not worth £160. Tho saying that, it's dropped in price and is now much closer to the price of the P5Q Deluxe, which is what I would usually recommend.

Asus P5Q series, the P5QE in particular has a nice range of options and cooling capabilities!

Is the ROG overclocking on the fly a gimmick then or?

Yeah.

The RoG waffle is making less and less sense as the likes of the P5Q Deluxe have many of the great BIOS options that RoG once only offered.

One of the main advantages of the RoG boards was the extra BIOS overclocking options they had. But most of those extra options are now included in the non-Rog boards.

right, now i get you, but they still look damn cool with all the copper and that BIG black bit, but you say the P5Q Deluxe is better?

No the M2F is 'better', but only by a little bit. And it does look pretty great.
