Looking to upgrade

I'm looking to upgrade my system due to BF3 and Skyrim coming out but not entirely sure what to change.

current specs are

Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q6600 @ 3ghz
ATI radeon HD 4870
Foxconn BLACKOPS X48 Socket 775 DDR3
Kingston 4gb Ddr3 1600mhz
500gb hard drive

guessing the mobo might be a limiting factor on this. Any where i should improve first would be great.

What's your gfx card? That's prob more relevant
Also what's your monitor/res?
And lastly do you have a budget in mind?
Oh and psu also, what's that?
 
ah yeah forgot about psu believe its Antec TruePower New 750W Modular PSU. Graphics card is in the first post. Monitor is 22" widescreen @ 1920 x 1080

That's your first port of call
If you want to stick to ATi I'd suggest a 6950 if it's in budget
That alone would be massive boost for gaming
Maybe try n get another 2-400 out of your overclock
 
I'd just go for the gfx card for now, see how it goes, if you wanted to you could then up the core components too if it weren't performing enough, though this would be another 250, on top of roughly 200 for gfx card
