so, im looking to upgrade my pc. I will keep my hdd's, disk drives and gfx card.
im looking to upgrade my : cpu, case, mobo, ram, cooler.

Whats the best combination i could get for £700??

Also would i need a new psu (have an OCZ600w)? .

should've expanded more. i have 6 sata drives + 2 sata opticle drives. i will be using the machine for gaming and will be using adobe programs a lot (and some general coding). And it needs to last for aslong as possible (going to uni so will probs not have the funds to change anything for a few years).

if im overclocking is there any advantage of the 2700k over the 2600k?

YOUR BASKET
1 x intel core i7-2600k 3.40ghz (sandybridge) socket lga1155 processor - retail £227.99
1 x gigabyte z68xp-ud3p intel z68 (socket 1155) ddr3 motherboard £129.98
1 x crucial realssd m4 128gb 2.5" sata 6gb/s solid state hard drive (ct128m4ssd2) £126.98
1 x cm storm trooper full tower gaming case - black £99.98
2 x kingston hyperx genesis grey 8gb (2x4gb) ddr3 pc3-12800c9 1600mhz dual channel kit (khx1600c9d3x2k2/8gx) £39.95 (£79.90)
1 x cooler master hyper 612s cpu cooler (socket lga1366/1156/1155/775/am3/am2+/am2) £35.99
total : £715.82 (includes shipping : £12.50).

the motherboard has four sataii ports and four sataiii ports, so if you do get a ssd for the os and programs, then you cant fit everything and one of the optical drives may have to left out.

the cooler is very good - http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/cooler_master_hyper_612s_cpu_cooler_review,1.html

Not really, its all down to luck anyways, but you should be easily doing over 4.5|GHz with the above.

• Do you have a suitable 64BIT OS for the 16GB RAM?

how does that cooler compare to some of the "watercooling kits" for overclocking?

A good air cooler is better than than the low end watercooling kits (corsairH60/Antec 620) cheaper too.

Heres one more excellent cooler - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=hs-020-al&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395 - but is more expensive

also is the samsung ram kit: Samsung Green 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz 30nm Dual Channel Kit worth the extra(£8) over the kingston?

Sandybridge doesnt benefit from anything more than 1600Mhz and modest timings (there are atleast three RAM guides on the net that show this) that Samsung stuff seems to OC extremely well but the extra performance just wont do much
