Currently using my I5 2500k overclocked. However 3 years down the line and I'm starting to get bluescreens and It's struggling when it come to streaming.

Now with gaming and streaming being my major concerns I'm looking to upgrade, however I've been out of the loop for a while and all the choices are confusing me a little lol
Could you guys give me some CPU and Mobo choices that you recommend? People have been screaming I7 at me but I think it's always better to get some good advice first.

Thanks in advance

The screaming masses are right. The i7 would certainly help with streaming. Though there are two (completely different) i7s to pick from. The 4790k and the 5820k. The 4790k has 4 cores and 8 threads, the 5820k has 6 cores and 12 threads.

They are both worth researching but I feel the 4790k is the vest choice as its much better value and you wouldn't need new RAM (the 5820k uses DDR4 RAM.)..

Have a look at OCUKs 4790k & gaming 7 bundle. (They also do a 5820k & X99-s one)

Currently running a 650watt OCZ ZS PSU, would I need to upgrade this in order to run one of the newer cpus? Especially if i eventually oc'd it?

I wouldn't bother going with the 5820k unless you were planning on running SLI or Crossfire graphics cards. One of the advantages of X99 is the increased PCI-E lanes available to the CPU and you only really use them with multiple graphics cards.

The 4790k should be fine for most people if all you are doing is gaming. Of course if you are doing other things that require more CPU cores then the 5820k might be worth the added expense.

Whichever chip is best for gaming and streaming tbh, I run a few games that just use 1 core (badly optimized) so it looks like the 4790 may be the best for me?
Is there a certain mobo people go for in those bundles btw?
Are the cooler mountings the same with these new chips as my 2500k? Or will I have to purchase new cooling?
