I want to upgrade to a newer CPU. i was looking at the 13900k but was wondering if the next generation is just around the corner? if so i might sit it out and wait.

Best advice is buy am5 x3d (wait for the 7800x) and then you're sorted for the next 8 years. As you can always slot in a nice upgrade in a year or two/three, whereas the intel is a dead socket and will be surpassed by the next generation of CPUs
What do you do with the PC? If you're only gaming and want Intel, then I'd suggest (@ OCUK) a 13700F, or for AMD then go 7800X3D as suggested above.
Intel are supposed to be launching a raptor lake refresh later this year, think the next architecture is going to be some time (2024).
