Looks like Microsoft finally caved in

Meh, they should have stood their ground.

As a PC gamer, if the internet is not working, I just get up and walk away from the computer anyway - lol.

It's not all good though.
They've removed the ability to share games from your account to others, and you cant trade or sell digital downloads, only those that come on a disk.

Which is a shame. If they'd kept the ability to trade and sell non-disk games, and kept the ability to share games with friends, while also getting rid of the other restrictions as they have, they'd have had a system that was superior to Sony/Ps4, and even Steam (apart from steam sales, of course).

They were clearly panicked by the massive backlash.

I don't think this really bothers PC gamers that much. We've had to deal with it for a long time so if I were to purchase an X1, it wouldn't bother me because I'm already used to the idea of purchasing a one-time use license.

If after having considered the negative backlash the reveal stirred up, they had of put their hands up and said 'fair enough, we will reverse this'... then ok that would be completely fine by me.

But that's their plan-b... their plan-a was to lie repeatedly and hope everyone would just shut up about it and it would sell anyway, plan-b isn't what they want to do. So I can only hope people aren't swayed by this reluctant and purely financially motivated move by them, they would make a move to **** over gamers again in a second if they thought their shareholders would be still be ok afterwards.

Too little too late.. Microsoft had to do what they did with the 360 and make a good gaming machine cheaper than the Sony alternative, they failed.

Now there spineless approach to everything is just another nail in there coffin, in my eyes..

They could have adopted a "best of both worlds" approach instead of a climb-down. Ah well, maybe in another generation (if there is one). Let's see if their sales will now recover (as I can imagine the numbers coming in following their announcement were pretty scary to their Shareholders).

I prefer the cussing, swearing at nothing method, never fails.
