Looks like QuadCore will benefit gamers sooner.

lets hope so.
You posted before i had time to add alittle info & the 8800 is kicking Ass

EDIT: they are useing 2 FX74`s so it should get better with real Quad cpu.

Look how much the dual core score changed by between the tests. They must have used radically different graphics settings or a different demo between the two tests. If we just use the first test as a base point, I'd say the quad core framerate would be about 55fps, so a 20fps increase. Not too shabby, but nothing like the 35-->90fps increase.

Still, it's a damn good step in the right direction.

They are using different gfx cards

And yet which website does this benchmark? Is it another marketing crap to promote something to the general public on a piece of hardware that is hardly needed for gaming now and for months to come.

Unreal 3 Engine Performance With Rainbow Six: Vegas
Single core 35fps to quadcore 90fps

Thats a bit misleading as the single core was only a 2GHz A64 and the quad was 3GHz ;)

Also, they disabled hardware mapping which sounds like it offloads some stuff to the GPU, so it would be less CPU dependant. So, it doesn't look is good is it seems. It is still a step in the right direction.

I got the impression it was the other way round. I.e offloading to the CPU to make the test more CPU heavy.

So it has nothing to do with the fact the Dual core is using the 7900 GT and the quad core is using the 8800 GTX?

:p

In each graph they use otherwise the same settings, so for the dual > quad comparison you only use the bottom graph.

Jokester

I'm sure if they just did better with the game to begin with, a single / dual core CPU would be more than enough. So now we need to go Quad core because they can't make a PC game properly and just port them from the Console?!

(I'm not including Alan Wake in this little rant, that actually has reasons for the Quad core ;) )

This thread is about quad for gaming not who has the better :)

im not saying it is better, i am saying read up on fx74 as it has some advantages over its rival. i should add it also has some advantages over its future inception of quad core too.

Yeah yeah, you're the second person to say that now, I noticed. Reading is too much effort :p
