Hi Folks,

I am not new to the PC world, I actually work in IT and have done for many years. I am however out of touch with the current kit that is out there and have managed to try and dive in and get my head around the latest CPU's and GPU's and have confused myself, there are a LOT more options these days :).

My current spec is below, built a few years ago as my old PC was literally dieing, a few parts (gfx card and PSU) made its way over to the below:

MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX (MS-7C02)
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (running at 4200MHz)
NVIDIA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080
Crucial M.2 500gb CT500MX500SSD4
Corsair VENGEANCE LPX DDR4 RAM 32GB (4x8GB) 3600MHz
2 x Dell S2721QS 24" Monitors
Sahara Gaming P35 C500B ATX Black Case
Corsair TX550M 80+ Gold PSU

I am no massive gamer but Diablo 3 was my staple wind down game in the evenings (000's of hours in it), this has now become Diablo 4 and the GTX 1080 is puffing (this card has been a workhorse for me, its ancient but so solid). There maybe other games on the future but I am not looking for 'ultimate resolutions/fps' for all games.

I know I have a reasonable base, ie ram, board, case, monitors but that as far as I can take it. I want to get a new GPU (maybe a 6700XT?) but not sure if I would also need a new PSU and CPU upgrade as well and if so what would suit best.

Budget wise I guess, £500-600?

The TXM is one of the better 550 watt PSUs, so I think you have a good chance of it working and the 6700 XT's power usage is pretty similar too.

I'd hang on a few more days until the new AMDs card launch and see what happens.

Have you seen any performance guides/reviews for Diablo 4? I haven't, so I'm not sure how oriented it is towards CPU versus GPU.

I didn't know that, that would be a bonus.

Yes, I am kind of working out what I need just know as some decent 2nd hand kit might pop up, or if prices/reviews are good for the new cards may opt for one.

Not sure tbh, I just know that everything is cranking up in my case but at least its keep my feet warm :)

Thanks for the input.

Just as an update, I have the following arriving

ID-COOLING SE-214-XT
Corsair RM750e (2023)
Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition

The above has cost me under £400 so happy with that and can decide on another cpu if the 3600 struggles. I can also sell on the GTX 1080 and 550W PSU if needed. I picked up the 3070FE for £275 so if it dosent work out, I wont lose anything selling it on again, given the current card I expect it will be an improvement! I am aware all the talk of vram and the new (to me) card only has 8gb but having looked a reviews, comparisons, etc it will do me at a price point I am happy with.
