Loop finished, only one leak so far, no disaster...

Well, it's DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got the card today, installed it, finished the build. Temps under load, AT LAST!!!!!

GPU 1: 35 C
GPU 2: 37C

Immense. And I am so happy that after all the effort it finally works. Eureka!!!!!

Congrats :) and look at it this way, at least now you can point some others building their first loop in the right direction.

Congrats on sorting it out.

As above, what do you think was the problem?

I honestly don't know. Here's what I tried in the past week...

- Drained loop at least ten times to try different SLI connector configs (serial / parallel / angled fittings, straight barbs etc)

- Re mounted block at least ten times. During which I tried different thermal paste methods (cross / spread / pea)

- Checked I had the right thermal pads in the right places (the block came with two different thickness pads to cut to shape. I quadruple checked this in case it was pushing up on the block.

- Had a new pump.

- Tried different fan speeds, push pull, push, pull.

- Nearly had to have a liver transplant after drowning my sorrows excessively at the weekend in absolute desperation.

- Knocked over 1/4 of a bottle of red Mayhems on my OcUK mega mat and now the white OcUK logo is pink (and ideas how to return it to it's original colour much appreciated)

In all fairness, the lads at OcUK were very helpful replacing the original kit. I got in touch with Rich (RJK on the forums) who also said he was at a loss as to what it could be. I thought to myself if he doesn't know, then there's no way in hell I am gonna figure this out, so invest in a decent new single card that suits my needs before my blood pressure goes through the roof and I drop down dead.

I now have the completely ok 580, and suspect block, in the cupboard doing nothing but staring me in the face. Anyone who wants it, who is willing to stare a heart attack in the face trying to fix it, is welcome to have it off me for a very low price, and I mean sub 50 quid. Send me a PM in trust.

Yes. With the remainder of the PPI claim money I had, I bought a 690 and XSPC block. I need the horsepower because I use 3D Vision, and didn't want to just buy another 580 because that would be investing in old tech.

Ahhhhhhhhh I understand now :D

It was your earlier post that showed temps over 2 GPU's followed by one being boxed away now that threw me!

Great card, great temps, get it all clocked :)

PPI claim is something I really need to sort out, could do with some extra funds, maybe for a 3rd 7970 and new PSU :D

Over the moon that you finally got it all sorted though :)

Me too. I honestly felt the weight lift off my shoulders when I saw the card temps stay stable in Heaven. I didn't think they would have been as low as they were. I was expecting mid 50's.

I heard there's going to be a stop date put on PPI claims, so if you've got one to sort out, I suggest doing it asap. Don't know how true it is, but you could be sitting on a few grand regardless.

Thanks for the help, it was definitely worth it now, I can see why people were egging me on. Just need to find out how to get this stain out of my mouse mat now. :/

I think the mats are washing machine safe, I'm sure a staff member posted up a while ago on the best methods of cleaning, perhaps ask in CS :)

I'll look into it shortly, last time I looked it just presented an absolute mountain of paperwork :p
