Hi

Meant to be hosting an online quiz for some friends this evening but using Messenger video chat. Some of the questions are music ones needing to play the audio in the call for others to hear but Messenger doesn't support PC audio streaming/sharing.

Could I get a second PC, I've a spare laptop, join the call with that and loop a 3.5mm cable from the headphone socket to the mic/line in and play the music on it so it feeds into the call as if it was coming down a mic from that user in the call?

Any chance that would work? Or any better ideas?

Thanks

All those D/A and A/D conversions are unnecessary besides likely having limited A/D accuracy.

So called virtual audio cables (virtual/software level audio devices with their own input and output) combined with some mixers would likely be the best.
You would need own output target for audio player and video chat's output to keep chat and music separate.
That would then allow mixing music into same input/recording device with sound coming from your mic. (without chat sound you hear from others)
While using another mixer to combine chat's sound from others and music to sound played back to you.

Pretty sure some of these could do it.
