Loop left standing and coolant has separated

Hi all hope everyone’s keeping well, after some advice

due to moving the house round about a year ago my computer was left standing. I’ve gone to set it back up and noticed that the coolant (mayhems pastel ice white, just under 3 years old) has gone clear and I’ve assumed the particles / dye has dropped out.

I can see a small amount in the corner of the cpu block but none anywhere else so assuming it’s sitting in the pump and bottom rad. There’s been no loss of coolant and tubing was mayhems ultra clear tubing

So stupid question, but if I switch it all back on is it likely to circulate out or will it clog the various components

guess I’m trying to avoid having strip all down to flush it out...

I would drain loop and add new fluid to be honest as 3 years it probably would need doing anyway used to do mine every couple of years fluid isn't that expensive and it keeps blocks clean no gunge

Your right of course and I sort of came to that conclusion after I posted and reread it

guess I was just being lazy as just wanted to get it set up and running without having to wait for new fluid and the rigmarole of flushing the thing

so I’ll place an order for some new fluid and the blitz part 2 cleaning kit

last question is it worth redoing the pipe work with new after 5 years or just flush through and refill and not worry about it?

That's up to you see if its clean when flushed if it looks ok I'd 'reuse it I'm just make sure to use distilled water to flush it with

Just to.confirm, it's a flush job. Preferably a Blitz. Personally I'd be taking the blocks and pump apart.

I run clear coolant and a year's the longest it'll stay in my system before a flush.

I would go for turn it on
See if it sorts it out
Any noticeable issues then yeah drain and clean
Only mayhem aurora has ever turned out to need drain and clean due to settling for me anyway

You'd probably been absolutely fine just starting it up. This is what happened to my pastel yellow after returning from a month away.

That was in 2017, I am still using that coolant.

Gives me the shivers :D

I'm the laziest type of watercooler. I hate maintenance and stick to clear coolant and ZMT.

Out of interest; has the pastel discoloured any of your blocks/res? Do you top up with biocide? Temps the same?

interesting vid, good to see it circulated out and recombined (for want of a better word)

admittedly mines a hell of a lot worse in terms of settlement, the fluid is now near enough completely clear so it must migrated and settled into the bottom rad and I’ve ordered the blitz kit and new fluid so it’ll give me something to do one night when it fun at turns up

As I’m starting to get the upgrade itch I’ll hold of on a complete strip down and renewing of the pipe work( it’s actually still in pretty good nick) when I finally replace my 290 that’s nearly 8 years old and that I keep saying I’m going to replace every couple of years since I’ve had it!

for what it’s worth the first batch of pastel that was in there lasted 2 years with no problems and was only drained due to a house move, I suspect the the second lot would have still been fine now if the computer was getting regular use.

Id certainly never saw any temp related issues and the fact that there’s no residue in the pipe work, res or cpu block means it not clogged anywhere in the last 5 years of use

That's just pastel yellow and deionised water from a car shop. There probably is some staining but I haven't drained the loop since putting the stuff in. It doesn't bother me too much as by the time I finish using WC parts everything is so EOL that it's not worth anything anyway.
