Was using the pc yesterday and suddenly the screen went blank and the monitor went into standby. Restarted and the machine posted as usual and showed the windows 7 loading screen and then the login screen, but before putting my password in the screen again went blank.
I've taken out the other cable to the TV which is a dvi and tried the main monitor in both outputs - both dvi, and the same thing happens.
Sometimes it will only get as far as the windows loading animation and not even the login screen. But it will sit in the bios fine and also seems to be fine in safe mode.
Tried removing the drivers and reverting back to the standard ones - this is week old install of windows 7. Last week I'd fitted a new motherboard, cpu and memory and re-piped all the watercooling. Parts are all in my signature.
The only other thing was the odd voltages being reported as in my thread from last night, Corsair 1000w psu with the 3.3 at 2.8, 5 and 5.8 and the 12 at 14. Although after turning the psu off fully the 12 went down to 13 ish.
Last thing was to pop in a basic gfx card I thankfully had sat spare and this also seems to be fine. So it does seem to point towards the 5870 being faulty now, but I'm just not sure how to know for definite, what might have caused it or what to do next. The other thread said to RMA the psu to Corsair as it's got a 5 year warrenty I think, but the same can't be done with the 5870 as it's been opened and waterblock fitted.
Any wise words people?
Thanks.
