Lords Of The Fallen. Action RPG

The release date for this has been moved forward to tomorrow the 28th Oct from what I have just read online.

Keeping my eye on this and seeing how it turns out in reviews. It does look good though.

I think I'll get this game.
But I think I should finish dark souls 2 first.
Maybe by the time I do, lords would have come down in price.

GameInformer: 8.5
IGN: 7.4
Polygon: 7.5
Gametrailers: 7.3
Gamespot: 8
Metro: 7

Consensus seems to be blatant Dark Souls clone without the difficulty or the refinement. Decent enough though.

Played it last night. It is quite hard. Got to the second Lord and died about 5 times so gave up. Will try again today.

This game really makes me want to smash up my controller/PS4/TV/room.

Maybe the good ol' Dark Souls saying has relevence here:

GET GOOD MAN, GET GOOD!!

Mine is coming tomorrow so looking forward to having something to play again. It's been a little while for PS4 but I'm fresh off a heavy strength build in DS2 into NG+++ and I hear this is set up primarily for heavy strength builds so I should be rolling right into it.

Going to see how far I get without a death!

Hopefully not too far. A large part of the fun in Shadow of Mordor was ruined because I never died...had to start dying on purpose to force the Orcs to actually level up to enjoy the actual nemesis system!!

Your frustrations appeal to me - sounds like it might be somewhat challenging.

Well I've just found a total fail in 1 part of this game.

There is a treasure shortcut which leads to a boss (3rd boss). You drop down from a ledge then go down some stairs. The boss then did an AOE attack I hadn't seen and killed me with full health - fine.
BUT, I then dropped down from the ledge again and there is a teal coloured barrier before the boss and I can't fight him - nor can I go back where I came. Meaning 6000XP is now lost - I hope I can quit and resume from another point or I'm trapped.

Just a heads up - be very wary of this location. (graveyard area)

EDIT: It seems the barrier here was akin to a fog door in Dark Souls - only I could not access the boss from the shortcut one - only the main one. I'm guessing it's a bug because if the barrier is there you should be able to go through it to fight the boss.

It feels very, very average. I don't care that it borrows heavily from the Souls games, there's nothing wrong with that at all. And there are great things about it, I love the mechanics of the exp system and I prefer the way it deals with death compared to Dark Souls.

But the level design just isn't clicking. Most of the enviroments feel far too confined, voice acting is pretty dreadful, story is just... well, Diablo 3 levels of bad. There's quite a few game breaking bugs too where I've had to restart the game and go back to a checkpoint, setting me back about 20 minutes.

It reminds me of the games made by 'Spiders'. Some good ideas, just not very interesting :/

Yeah I'd agree there. So far, the actual gampleay is good and there are certainly some good mechanics - but the story I'm already just ksipping - it's pointless. The world so far is very dull so I hope there are more interesting locations further in.

Plus side is the 3rd boss was more interesting and had some mechanics where you can take shelter from his big attack in these shrines but also get him to destroy them which stuns him for a while - so another risk vs reward mechanic which I like.

So far I'm enjoying it but it's unfortunately hard to not compare it to Dark Souls, which is vastly superior.
In it's own right thoguh, this is sitll better than msot of the other games that are out purely because of the gameplay so I'll certainly be going through it fully - just not sure I'll do a NG+ on this one unless locations get more interesting

ordered this and just waiting for delivery next week, i loved Dark/Demons Souls but never got on with Dark souls II as it seemed to have a lot more cheap deaths of being outnumbered.

im not expecting this to be a Souls game as that seems to be what a lot of negative comments seem to be about but i am hoping to enjoy another game with a similar system.

if nothing else im just looking for a good game to get some satisfaction from and watching some streams on twitch earlier it does look like a game i will enjoy.

I finished this at the weekend and I have to say I enjoyed it.

My main gripe by the end was the length and the difficulty. It is extremely easy - I only died a couple of times near the start by going into late game areas by mistake. Once I got the areas in the correct order I barely ever used a potion. I only activated checkpoints because the game crashed twice when I didn't and had to repeat some of it.

It's probably unfair to say it's easy though having put 500 hours into Souls games.

I enjoyed the gameplay though and that's what counts - was only 8-10 hours long which included most of the optional secret stuff.

Worth a play though so I'm pleased I gave it a shot.

Anyone have issues with the "Beast" boss fight on PS4? Tried twice now and the game keeps crashing out with an error?

Sends me back to the PS4 dash saying the game encountered a problem etc etc?

I had that error a couple of times - not in that fight though. Also had some bosses stop moving entirely for 2 minutes and sometimes their health didn't go down at all.

Bugs were not that common but they were all pretty big ones. Seen about 5 in the 8 hours it took to finish
