can anyone tell me if there is any good tools for backing up game saves. I have the habit of thinking every game on steam is cloud backup or forget that GFWL games need more than the game folders name.

I really want to find a way to backup to my dropbox or something along them lines I like to fresh install every few months

Why not when you go to fresh install just find the location of the save game and save it to a memory stick or the like?

I know what you mean though, I've lost numerous saves because I thought they were Steam cloud saves :(.

It's a pain because there's no convention as to where games are actually saved to. I wish more games did Steam Cloud backups, so much easier then.

i have trouble with backing up xlive games and the other folder. main reason i try to only buy steam

Once you find out the backup location you could use a free file backup program like SyncBack:

and create a profile so that you just hit one button and all the changes in all your game directories are backed up.

wow thank you so much that is exactly what i wanted
i dont see a free one can you tell me what one it is to get , if its a good app ill pay for it anyway free is a bonus

Another vote for GSM, excellent tool that even links to Dropbox, so you can get your saves anywhere.

GSM, you can set scheduled backups, and have it sync to dropbox as well. It does individual files, so you only sync what's changed.

Got mine to go every Saturday, works brilliantly. And I've had to actually restore saves when loosing them all. Worked flawlessly. :)
