Losing internet connection on desktop pc for less than a minute

Hi guys

I have a Netgear DG834GT router that connects to the internet. My main pc is connected to the router via lan cable with the onboard network card.

I have the Asus P8Z68-v motherboard.

The problem is I am losing internet connection randomly, sometimes 2-3 times per hour other times 2-3 times per day.
I am still connected to the router but the windows icon says: Internet not connected. No internet page open and online games "freeze". If I log onto the router page it shows that the router is still connected to the internet and it does not disconnect, it just seems that my pc is losing internet connection.

It reconnects within a minute by itself but this brief internet outage plays havock with online games.
It also happens to my other pc so I suspect router/internet connection.

Things I have done:
1. Tried different lan cable
2. Reset router to factory defaults
3. Hard reset router
4. Updated drivers to latest
5. Latest firmware for router

Does anybody have a idea to try and fix this issue?
Is it at my isp side (Talk Talk) and does the internet disconnect briefly? (Although it doesnt show in router page)
or maybe the router being faulty or maybe something to do with the pc itself?

Any help appreciated
Thanx

tried different filters? plugged straight into test socket if you have one? Does is happen when someone uses the phone?

To be honest it could be a million and one things, can you provide your router stats at all?

Thank you for the reply

The issue is not connected with someone being on the phone.
I don't believe I have a test socket either.
The suggestion to try a different filter, will that not only make a difference it the router actually disconnect from the internet? (which it does not)

Here is a image of the router status, as you can see the uptime is well over 21 hours, but just today I have had 4 "dc's" while playing Startcraft 2. When it happens I can also not open any internet pages.

Do other devices disconnect from the internet as well, ie phone, laptop, XBox etc?

It is hard to say 100% because the devices are still connected to the router but the internet does not work.
My wife is downstairs with her ipad 2 and sometimes she complains it is very slow and then it speeds up again. So I assume the same problem hits her ipad2 and then she thinks it it just loading very long (The internet always start working again in under a minute). But as I said the devices never actually disconnects from the router.

Just to point out, the normal network still work, as my wife is streaming video files from my pc to our AC ryan media streamer downstairs and it never pauses or freeze.

Ah, so it's definitely an ISP issue then.

Sorry, I don't really know much about ADSL in terms of stats and what not, but it may be worth booking a fault with your ISP.

it may be worth booking a fault with your ISP.

LOL I dont even know who my ISP is anymore. It was Pipex, bought out by Tiscali, bought out by The Carphone Wharehouse bought out by eerrrr Talk Talk I think, will have to have a look or just cancel and get a better deal somewhere else, with a new 'n' wireless router.
Maybe it will not resolve my issue but at least I will have a new router and then I know it must be a line fault ISP fault if the problem persists.

different filter might make a difference, but I'd be inclined to say the router is going duff and losing sync. Could you try a different router at all? Borrow one if you have to...

Tried a old router, Netgear DG834G v1, big grey thing, same problem. It is just weird because connection will be fine, downloading at max speed then it will stop for approx 50secs and continue at max speed. So its not like I have poor speeds or anything its just going on/off.

could be an actual line fault then....or a problem with the wiring. Tried disconnecting everything on the phone line except the router? When you use the phone do you get any noise?

We have BT wireless phones and there is a little bit of noise on them. I always thought it was because they are wireless. Will give BT a call and see if they can come and test the line.
Thanx

don't mention broadband speeds, just tell them it's a voice fault.....otherwise they'll make you go round in circles before the engineer is called!
