over the last couple of days i keep losing internet connection ...now not all the connection just browser....if im downloading on say ie utorrent or newsleecher that still stays alive but if i start the browser on either my server or my pc sometimes it doesnt work....but if i take the network cable out and plug back in again or reboot the switch it works fine again for a few hours or so....now i am trying to figure out if its the switch causing the problem or something else like can it be cables as they are new....or ive opened a couple of ports on my router is it possible that would cause this....has anyone come across this problem thanks

well doing exactly the same on 3 different computers one freshly formatted....i can connect to the network ok and browse the computers on the network but keep getting the yellow exclamation mark on the network icon every now and again.....

possible but why am i starting to get this problem any ideas ?..ok i think ive worked something out this has only started to happen since i installed a browser called seamonkey...is it possible this program can mess with the dns settings some how.

ok sorted it....i installed a browser called seamonkey by mozzilla...for some reason it changed my dns server to 10.0.0.1 ...rather than use the one provided by my router...i had to release ip...flush dns then renew ip....it looks like it is all back to normal as my dns server is the usual 192.168.1.1 now...so has anyone known a browser to changer your dns server ....

well never sorted it...for some reason it kept assigning the wrong dns server address...after a reset of the router it done the same.....tried another router that was the same as well...anyway put the original netgear wndr3700 back in and had to tick the options use these address instead of hetting one automatically from my isp....is this normal of have i got a underlying problem somewhere .

ok ive got a router pluggen into another router.....for about a year no probs until a few days ago....my reset the other router back to factory see if that sorts it.

Why do you have two routers anyway? Resetting to defaults is just going to enable the DHCP server again assuming you got around to disabling it in the first place.

If you explain your network setup here then people will help you make sure it's right, you're obviously after help so let people give you it. Resetting to defaults isn't going to fix your problem.

i have 2 routers because one works around the house.....but ut on the 2 floor ie attic lose connection all time....so i plugged the other router up there and wireless signal is great.....as i said been working for ages ....i only said reset because it used to work....but yeah makes sense....so i need to disable the DHCP on the router in the attic is that correct....or is there a better way to get signal up there without a second router thanks?
