Losing weight with weights

i swear this forums gone down hill compared to what it was when i started weightlifting 2 years ago.

ok op do a muscle mass weight lifting routine , im sure you will burn loads of fat LOL....

people even realise what a proper muscle building weight routine involves? its heavy weights and few REPS. how does this help him lose weight? it doesnt unless he suddenly starts eating a proper diet and builds muscle silly fast which wont happen

yet i get laughed at for telling a guy who wants to lose weight to do light weights and lots of reps to burn calories and gain muscle definition.
i said definition not mass

Ok now I get it! Doing 2kg db curls for 15 - 20 reps is better for losing fat than a decent set of heavy squats!
Why didn't I realize that before!

:p

15 - 20 reps? your weak?

you guys are crazy it takes so long to build muscle he wont see results for ages where as with proper cardio exersize using weights you dont gain muscle mass but your burn a lot of energy and still get stronger.

i thought he said he didnt want big muscles anyway

the guy who thinks exercising with weights = 2kg db curls x 20

anyway HE does not want muscles , it takes a lot of time and effort to get to the point where your muscle mass increases and your burning a lot more calories than a regular person.

hes already doing a lot of cardio, if he wants to burn fat with weights he needs low reps and lots of them so he doesnt build muscle mass but muscle definition only. which is still classed as cardio (go watch a proper workout video)

doing various weightlifting routines of 2-3 sets & 5-10 reps with uber heavy weights will not give him the results he wants nor would it give him the results as fast as he wants

he made that clear as day in his first post.

it takes so much more effort and life style changes to build muscle while losing fat compared to what it does if your just losing fat.

you all should know this why do you think weight lifters still do cardio?

Arknor what are you going on about?
Please, give me a routine that you speak of that will burn lots of kcals.

Do you think that doing a few good compound exercises will make you into worlds strongest man or mr Olympia?

do light waits and tons of reps like one those workouts for women if u want to lose weight with weights, it will make you more toned aswell.

doing proper weights for men will just give you more muscle and a higher metabolism but you will probably want to eat more aswell... most people who do weights to gain muscle still do loads of cardio to burn fat and looks muscular

Facepalms Everywhere.

Ok you want to change your body shape and lose weight.
Do heavy compounds, gain strength, change bodyshape.
Do weights before cardio ideally.
Good diet is essential.

Just stick to a good calorie deficit diet while having a good protein intake and do compound lifts, sigh how hard can it be. :p
