I am 35 feel like 45, current weight is 16st height is 5ft 9in...so according to the charts I should be around the 12st weight.

I have started to eat smaller portions of food rather than sit and overfill as I used to and do not eat later than 8pm (cutting out junk food).

My fitness levels are shot.....so that is also a big issue for me at the moment. I do not have moobs so that is a bonus I guess, all my weight is basically on my stomach. A beer belly just no beer though...through food and lack of activity.

What is the best form of activity is the best way to loose the weight quickly. Motivation is also an issue but that is something that I will have to work on. When I start seeing results I will get encouraged to continue and work harder.

Thanks for any advice, I am just fed up of having this extra weight and also having such poor fitness levels.

Why do you want to lose it quickly? Lose it slowly and properly, not quickly and incorrectly.

Dont budget for anything more than a couple of pounds a week, you will reach your target in less than a year which is where people always fall down, they want to undo years of overeating and lack of exercise in a few weeks or a month.

I was almost 16 stone and your height and just under 2 years ago I dropped it and have kept it off without much bother. Just over 12 st now and for a long while. I did weight watchers online as a way of monitoring what I eat for the first few months (I've always eaten well just too much) and started running once the initial significant fall off in weight was over. Good luck!

go out cycling. Easiest and most fun way to start losing weight. Its non-weight bearing so you won't do any damage to your knees or anything.

In your current condition, if you were to go out running, you would put yourself at risk of a serious knee injury. So take it steady and do non-weight bearing exercise first

very true, I only started running around 13 st, my brother in law started running too early when loosing weight and got knee and shin splint problems and was totally put off it

Stay away from the carbs tubby! Exercise before breakfast. Remember aswell, not eating when you normally would is hard at first but your body adapts.

Stick to it!

Get out there and start walking mate... One step at a time.

Don't over do it when you start out - it'll get easier with time. Drink lots of water instead of snacking.

Do you smoke ? :s

Yes this I find hardest to cope with is not having the extra food and loads of chocolate.

I agree with this. I find cycling infinitely more fun than running (which I loathe quite frankly, the scenery moves past so slowly), I even enjoy cycling in the rain.

Apart from the 20 Regal each day...No
On a serious note though no I do not smoke.....should I start :-)

I was 15 and a half stone (6ft 1) a few months ago, but I started swimming twice a week for 50 mins and now im down to 14.11 stone. The only real change I have made to my diet is cutting out full sugar drinks and moved to diet and have seen quite a decent change.

Swimming is good for exercise and its relatively fun, I would recommend swimming, as its also quite hard to injure yourself doing it.

Go walking with an audio book / music. Do you have a dog?

Go cycling with music.

Go swimming.

Do a mix of those activities if you can, and this will lessen the chance that you get bored. Don't worry about a routine, just do something, and do that something regularly.

Swimming is excellent if you're unfit and have a heavy frame, as it's so gentle on your muscles and joints.

When the weight begins to come off, you can begin to work on better routines, going to the gym and weight lifting, etc. You'll feel amazing when your cardio starts getting better and better.

Don't make the mistake of starving yourself, as your body will adjust and try to store as much fat from the food you do eat.

Go slowly and work up to things. Don't go all out and get injured or hurt, as you'll just end up back at square one, feeling sorry for yourself.

Very similar to me. But I also used to be a bodybuilder. Got injured didnt train now at just under 17st feel like crap.

Get a bike as above start cycling everywhere. Eat little but often.
Its taken yrs to get the weight on it wont go overnight. Try to lose a couple of pound a week but dont beat yourself up If you dont. Chances are at our weight its water that makes the scales jump up and down.

Cut out the little things and together they make a big difference.

The Idea behind losing weight slowly is that you dont shock your body into missing Pizza or crisps or pop.

Yeah order a pizza but eat an apple before it gets here and eat the pizza slowly and leave a couple of slices.

Then you can slowly cut it down.

Good, makes walking a lot more bearable if you're a non-smoker.

TBH I've been a little depressed over the past couple of days and have found myself snacking / eating really large meals

If you're in a similar boat start drinking lots of water - you'll find your head clearing straight away :) Then get out there and walk... leave the car at home
