I have laptop (Vista) that has lost the ability to connect to networks, both wired and wireless devices can be seen and appear to be functioning in device manager but plug a cable in and nothing, no lights or anything. Wirless manager doesn't work.

I have tried removing the devices and re-installing driver also SFC /scannow and it says some files are corrupt but cannot repair them, I've also tried changing a registry setting, all I remember is changing the value under a key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services (can't remember the full path) from 3 to 2 (something I read on the web, haven't got the site to hand as I'm at work. When I get home I'll try and update this part), this only seemed to work for people where the setting was 4 to start with not 3.

Any ideas short of a full re-install?
